Description Untitled Document

This fieldtrip will provide an opportunity to learn how to collect and edit geographic data using the ‘open source’ mapping tools of OpenStreetMap.

OpenStreetMap is sometimes described as the “Wikipedia of maps” because it enables anybody to map anything. The tools and resulting geodata are freely available to create maps or to download data for integration and analysis. It provides a great tool for special interest groups to map the things that are of specific interest to them and to freely share that data.

Check out the OpenStreetMap website at: http://www.openstreetmap.org/
